Hurghada, Sharm el-Sheikh, Marsa Alam, Cairo and Luxor: one eSIM for all of Egypt

You do not need a different eSIM for each city or resort: the plans in the table are plans for Egypt, and you choose them by gigabytes and days, not by place. If your trip combines the Red Sea coast with Cairo or Luxor, you keep the same eSIM and the same plan. As with any mobile line, the signal in each place depends on the local networks.

How many gigabytes do you need?

As a guide only: your own use may differ, and your phone’s settings show how much mobile data you used last month.

  • Maps, messaging and email: these use little data. 1 to 3 GB usually covers a week.
  • Social media with photos and some video: 5 to 10 GB for a week is a common range.
  • Video streaming or video calls on most days: 20 GB or more, or an unlimited plan.

Examples from the table, by length of trip:

  • A week: 3 GB for 7 days (€3.99).
  • Two weeks: 5 GB for 15 days (€6.95).
  • A month: 10 GB for 30 days (€9.99), or 20 GB for 30 days (€17.95) if you use more.

What about roaming with your home plan?

The EU “roam like at home” rule applies in the EU countries, in Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, and in Moldova and Ukraine. Egypt is not covered, and the European Commission warns that roaming outside the EU/EEA, data roaming in particular, can be expensive. Wherever your SIM is from, what you pay to roam in Egypt is set by your own operator, so check it before you leave. With a prepaid eSIM you know what you will pay before you travel.

Travelling from Switzerland, Germany, Austria or the United Kingdom? Egypt is outside the EU rule in all four cases: with a German or Austrian line, “roam like at home” applies in the countries listed in the previous paragraph, and Egypt is not one of them; Switzerland and the United Kingdom are not on that list either. With a line from any of these four countries, check what your operator charges in Egypt before you leave.

How the eSIM works: installation and validity

  1. At home: check that your phone supports eSIM (there is a device check on the product page) and that it is not locked to an operator, buy the plan and install the eSIM over Wi-Fi. The instructions arrive by email.
  2. Validity: it does not start when you install the eSIM, but the first time it connects to a network in Egypt.
  3. Data roaming on the eSIM: switch it on before you go. It is only a setting, and on the eSIM it costs nothing extra.
  4. When you arrive: choose the eSIM line for mobile data. If it is not online after a couple of minutes, restart the phone.
  5. Your usual SIM: turn data roaming off on that line. It can stay active to receive calls and texts, but in Egypt your operator can charge you for calls you make, calls you receive and texts.

You can call home through WhatsApp or another app, using the eSIM’s data and keeping your usual number: these plans are data only.

Refunds, top-ups and the other conditions are in the terms and conditions.

Frequently asked questions

How much is a cheap eSIM for Egypt?+
At Roam2Go, 1 GB for 7 days costs €1.95, 3 GB for 7 days costs €3.99, 5 GB for 15 days costs €6.95, 10 GB for 30 days costs €9.99 and 20 GB for 30 days costs €17.95, VAT included. The table above lists every fixed data plan for Egypt with its price per GB. Prices checked on 12 October 2026; the product page shows the current ones.
What is the best eSIM plan for a week in Egypt?+
It depends on how you use your phone. For a week of maps, messaging and some social media, 3 GB for 7 days (€3.99) is a reasonable fit. If you only need maps and messaging, 1 GB for 7 days (€1.95) can be enough. If you watch video on most days, look at the larger plans in the table or at the unlimited plans on the product page.
When does the validity of the eSIM start?+
The first time it connects to a network in Egypt, not when you install it. You can install it at home, over Wi-Fi, days before your trip.
Can I use the plan’s data on a laptop or another device?+
According to each plan’s details, the fixed data plans for Egypt allow it: what the other device uses comes out of your plan’s data. It also depends on your phone and on the network. Any condition specific to a plan is shown on the product page and in the terms and conditions.
Can I add more data if I run out?+
Yes, by buying another plan. On plans that support top-ups, the new plan is loaded onto the eSIM you already have, and before paying you see when it starts and what happens to the data you have left. On the others, you buy a new plan and install a new eSIM.
Can I get a refund?+
You have 30 days from purchase to ask for a full refund if you have not used the eSIM (it has not connected to a network or used any data), even if you have already installed it. If it does not connect at your destination, we find a solution or give you your money back. Any other case is looked at individually: write to us.
