Istanbul, Antalya, Alanya, Bodrum and Cappadocia: one eSIM
Roam2Go eSIMs are sold by country or by region, not by city: all the plans in the table are plans for Turkey, and there is none just for Istanbul, Antalya, Alanya, Bodrum or Cappadocia. If your trip combines Istanbul with the coast or with Cappadocia, choose one plan with the days and the data for the whole trip, rather than one plan for each stop. As with any phone, the signal depends on the network in each place, and our 2026 guide to the eSIM for Turkey explains what to expect outside the cities.
Combining Turkey with another destination? There are also eSIMs for Greece, Bulgaria, Georgia and Northern Cyprus, and the Europe eSIM is valid in 41 destinations, including Turkey, Greece, Bulgaria and Georgia, with a single purchase.
How many gigabytes do you need?
As a guide only: your own use may differ, and your phone’s settings show how much mobile data you used last month.
- Maps, messaging and email: these use little data. 1 to 3 GB usually covers a week.
- Social media with photos and some video: 5 to 10 GB for a week is a common range.
- Video streaming or video calls on most days: 20 GB or more, or an unlimited plan.
Examples from the table. These plans are valid for 30 days, so they also work for a shorter trip:
- A week: 3 GB for 30 days (€4.99) for maps and messaging, or 10 GB for 30 days (€5.99) if you also use social media.
- Two weeks to a month: 10 GB for 30 days (€5.99) for light use, or 20 GB for 30 days (€10.95) if you use more.
- Video on most days: 50 GB for 30 days (€23.95), or an unlimited plan.
Using the data on a laptop or another device: according to each plan’s details, the fixed data plans for Turkey allow it, and what the other device uses comes out of your plan’s data. It also depends on your phone and on the network; any condition specific to a plan is shown on the product page and in the terms and conditions.
What about roaming with your home plan?
The EU “roam like at home” rule applies in the EU countries, in Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, and in Moldova and Ukraine. Turkey is not covered, and the European Commission warns that roaming outside the EU/EEA, data roaming in particular, can be expensive. Wherever your SIM is from, what you pay to roam in Turkey is set by your own operator, so check it before you leave. With a prepaid eSIM you know what you will pay before you travel.
Travelling from the United Kingdom, Germany or Switzerland? In all three cases, Turkey is outside the EU rule: with a German line, “roam like at home” applies in the countries listed in the previous paragraph, and Turkey is not one of them; the United Kingdom and Switzerland are not on that list either. With a line from any of these three countries, check what your operator charges in Turkey before you leave. With a prepaid eSIM for Turkey you know the price in advance: the plan with 10 GB for 30 days costs €5.99.
How the eSIM works: installation and validity
- At home: check that your phone supports eSIM (there is a device check on the product page) and that it is not locked to an operator, buy the plan and install the eSIM over Wi-Fi. The instructions arrive by email.
- Validity: it starts the first time the eSIM connects to a network in Turkey, not when you install it.
- Data roaming on the eSIM: switch it on before you go. It is only a setting, and on the eSIM it costs nothing extra.
- When you arrive: choose the eSIM line for mobile data. If it is not online after a couple of minutes, restart the phone.
- Your usual SIM: turn data roaming off on that line. It can stay active to receive calls and texts, but in Turkey your operator can charge you for calls you make, calls you receive and texts.
You can call home through WhatsApp or another app, using the eSIM’s data and keeping your usual number: these plans are data only.
Refunds, top-ups and the other conditions are in the terms and conditions.
