eSIM for Europe from the US (2026): prices, countries and setup

Flying from the US to Europe? A Roam2Go eSIM for Europe gives you mobile data in more than 40 European countries for a fixed price: from €1.95 (500 MB, 3 days), €6.95 for 1 GB (7 days) or €8.95 for 3 days of unlimited data, VAT included (prices checked on 29 September 2026).

You buy it online, receive a QR code by email and connect when you land. There is no SIM card to swap at the airport and no daily international pass on your US bill, and the same eSIM works for the whole trip, whether you stay in Paris or do London, Rome and Zurich in two weeks.

Why US travelers use a Europe eSIM

  • A fixed price for the whole trip: you know what you will pay before you leave, instead of paying for international roaming day by day.
  • One eSIM for many countries: the plan keeps working when you cross borders, including the United Kingdom and Switzerland, which are outside the EU.
  • Your US number stays on your phone: the eSIM is an extra line for data, so your usual line can stay active for calls and texts (see the tips below).

Prices: Roam2Go plans for Europe

Prices are in euros and include VAT. When you visit the store from the United States, it shows the prices in US dollars automatically, and you can pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay.

Which countries are covered?

The Europe plan covers more than 40 countries: the main EU destinations (France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Portugal, Greece, the Netherlands, Ireland and many more), plus the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Turkey and several Balkan countries such as Albania, Montenegro and Serbia. You will find the full list on the Europe plan page.

Before you fly: check your phone

  • It must be unlocked. A phone bought through a US carrier can be locked to that carrier, and a locked phone will not accept another eSIM. On an iPhone, go to Settings › General › About and look at Carrier Lock: it should say “No SIM restrictions”. If it is locked, ask your carrier to unlock it before the trip.
  • It must support eSIM. The iPhone models sold in the US from the iPhone 14 onwards work only with eSIM, so they are compatible. For other phones, dial *#06#: if an EID appears, your phone supports eSIM. If it does not appear, that alone does not mean no: look in your settings for an option to add or activate an eSIM, and check our compatible phones guide.

How to set it up, step by step

  1. Buy the plan once your trip is confirmed. You will receive the QR code by email a few minutes after the purchase.
  2. Install it on Wi-Fi before you fly by scanning the QR code (on an iPhone: Settings › Cellular › Add eSIM).
  3. Before you leave, turn on data roaming for the Roam2Go line. This does not start the plan and does not use any data.
  4. When you land, choose Roam2Go as your cellular data line and restart your phone.

The plan page tells you when the validity period starts. If this is your first eSIM, our guide on how an eSIM works explains the basics.

Keeping your US number

You can keep your US line switched on to receive calls and texts. Turn off data roaming for that line, so that all your data goes through the eSIM. Depending on your plan, international calls and texts may need to be enabled first, and your carrier may charge you for calls and texts in Europe, both the ones you make and the ones you receive: check with your carrier before you go. For calls, WhatsApp or FaceTime over the eSIM data work well.

Unlimited or a data plan?

A week or less, with lots of maps, photos and video calls

An unlimited plan is the simplest choice: 5 days cost 14.95 € and 7 days 20.50 €. You get high-speed data every day and, if you use it up, you stay connected at a reduced speed.

Two to four weeks with light use and Wi-Fi at the hotel

A data plan usually goes further: 5 GB for 30 days at 16.99 € or 10 GB for 30 days at 23.99 €.

A long stay or working remotely

Look at 20 GB for 30 days (36.99 €) or the 30-day unlimited plan (53.99 €).

Frequently asked questions

Will my US phone work with a European eSIM?+
Yes, if it supports eSIM and it is unlocked. iPhone models sold in the US from the iPhone 14 onwards work only with eSIM. On an iPhone, Settings › General › About › Carrier Lock should say “No SIM restrictions”; if it does not, ask your carrier to unlock the phone before you travel.
Can I keep my US number while I use the eSIM?+
Yes. Your US line can stay on to receive calls and texts while the eSIM handles the data. Turn off data roaming for the US line, and check with your carrier what it charges for calls and texts in Europe, both made and received.
When should I install the eSIM?+
Once your trip is confirmed, install it on Wi-Fi before you fly and turn on data roaming for the Roam2Go line; that does not start the plan. When you land, choose Roam2Go as your data line and restart your phone. The plan page tells you when the validity period starts.
Does the eSIM include a phone number or calls?+
No, the Europe plans are data-only. For calls and messages you can use apps such as WhatsApp or FaceTime over the eSIM data, and keep your US line for calls and texts if you need them.
Does it work in the United Kingdom and Switzerland?+
Yes. Both countries are included in the Roam2Go Europe plan, together with the main EU destinations, Norway, Iceland, Turkey and several Balkan countries. The full list is on the Europe plan page.

Compatibility and coverage

Your phone must be eSIM-compatible and carrier-unlocked. Careful: it does not depend only on the model but also on the specific version — within the same model there are units with eSIM and units without. Check it on your own phone with the checker on this page before buying.
